U.S. Constitution Day Simulation Quest
What Are Simulation Quests?
A Simulation Quest is a series of virtual simulations in which the student gains points for passing each simulation level. Students work on these in teams and collaboratively make decisions, solve problems, and reflect on experiences.
U.S. Constitution Quest
In this quest, you will participate in a game against the other teams in the classroom called, "The Great American Race!" In the race, your team will compete in 11 challenges. Each challenge has a challenge winner. The Challenge Winner is the team that finishes the challenge first with the highest amount of points. The Great American Race Winner is the team that finishes all 11 challenges first with the highest amount of points. Challenge Winners will receive a prize. The Game Winners will receive a prize and their team name on the Great American Race Trophy displayed in our classroom.
The race begins after I give each team the Challenge 1 envelope. Once all teams have their envelopes, I will say, "Go!" Teams will open their envelopes and open the Challenge 1 Great American Race icon below. Teams will work together to find the answers to the questions in Challenge 1. You may only use the provided link. Do not click on any other links on the page or open any other tabs or windows. Doing so will result in your team's elimination from the game. You will do worksheets the rest of the period.
Answer the questions on the Challenge 1 sheet. When you have completed Challenge 1, your entire team comes to the Approval Table (my kidney table). Any other groups must take a number from the Turn In Counter and line up behind the silver line in the order that they finished the challenge to wait for approval.
At the Approval Table, I will look over your answers. You will receive 10 points for each correct answer on your answer sheet. If you answer all of your answers correctly, you will immediately receive your Challenge 2 Envelope and your points will be recorded on the scoreboard. If you answer questions incorrectly, you will choose to accept the amount of points you scored on the challenge and move to Challenge 2 or you may go back and correct your Challenge 1 Sheet so that you can receive the maximum number of points for the challenge. I will not tell you what you got wrong. You will have to figure that out for yourself. You may correct answers and come back to the Approval Table. The only downfall to this choice is you have to get in line behind any people in line already. So you will need to weigh your time and points to determine the best decision for your team. You have to get 60% of your questions correct to have the option of choosing to go to the next challenge. If you have 59% or less correct, you will have to return to correct your answers no matter what.
To participate in each challenge, you will click on the picture icon below these instructions. Challenge 1 is showing now. To move to Challenge 2, simply click on the number 2 underneath the Challenge 1 icon. Then click on the icon to begin playing. Each Challenge icon is accessed by clicking on the Challenge number under the displayed icon.
You will repeat these steps for 11 challenges. After Challenge 11, your time and game points will be tallied and recorded on the score board. While you are waiting for other teams to complete the race, you may play study games for the Topic 1 Test on the Gilded Age under Study Guides or any Topic 1 Gilded Age Games under the Games Stage. As teams finish, I will put times and points on the score board. When the last team finishes, I will announce the winner.
