Goal 2:  By the unit test you should be able to describe or explain the following things:
  1.  Describe the growth of America at the end of the 19th century.
  2. Explain America’s foreign and domestic policies prior to W.W.I.
  3. Explain the causes of World War I and describe important early events. 
  4. Explain why America stayed neutral, but later entered W.W. I. 
  5. Explain how and why American propaganda was used during the war and its effects. 
  6. Describe the nature of fighting in World War I. 
  7. Explain the ways Americans were involved in World War I. 
  8. Compare and contrast Wilson’s Fourteen Points with the Versailles peace treaty. 
  9. Explain American arguments for and against joining the League of Nations.
  10. Describe the challenges faced after the war ended.


Goal 3:  By the unit test you should be able to evaluate the following things:
  1. Why it is important to study the history of the U.S. during World War I.
  2. How the events, issues, and outcomes of World War I effect us today.
