CHALLENGE TARGET:  I CAN DESCRIBE WHAT IT WAS LIKE FOR IMMIGRANTS TO MOVE TO AMERICA And START A LIFE HERE.

In this activity, you will participate in a simulation where you are an immigrant from another country to America. You will need to wear your headphones to listen to the video.  The video is important to listen to in this activity.  Victoria is the person in the video.  She is a friend who has written to you and given you advice about your journey based on her own experiences.    

Thought your journey, you will write in your diary about your experiences.  I will give each one of you a diary.  Document your experiences in the simulation by filling in your diary.  You will see prompts in your diary for what you need to write.  When you have completed the diary, bring your diaries to me.  

Oh and one more thing.... After the introduction at the Nickelodeon, you must attempt to have each group members make different choices in the simulation.  For example:  if there are 5 members in your group, three might be boys and two might be girls in the simulation.  Each group member would choose different names.  You might have the same first name but different last names.  When choosing jobs, each person should choose a different job.  If your group has five, you might have two people choose the same job, but make sure to choose different housework or food, etc... Bonus points will be awarded for the group with the greatest variety of experiences.  

To begin, click on the icon to the right of the Tenement Building.  Follow the instructions in the simulation.  Fill in your diary as you go.  Make sure to pay special attention to the introduction at the Nickelodeon.  It goes fast!
